You probably know about the geomagnetic field that protects the earth from solar storms and radiation. But precision satellites have measured ANOTHER magnetic field coming from Earth, and its signals might hold the key to searching for water on other planets!

Why do you say Sodium when you talk about Natrium? Metric system, chemicals, foodhorror, nazification... is there anything done not-wrong in the u.s.?! x‘D
I wonder if any research has been done into whether that oceanic magnetic field was stronger in early Earth's oceans due to the closer proximity Earth was to the moon... And what that may have done for Earth's early life in terms of protection?
So, _Link's Awakening_ was as much about magnetic fields as it was about oneirology?
Magneto approves
"90% of all the excess heat generated by humans is absorbed by the oceans." *lol* Heat is heat, no matter what forces generate it. To select out humans shows they're bias.
Ahhh, how sweet, The Scientism Worshippers have their own HYMNS now... As an atheist.
Would this not mean that humans have a magnetic field too. Since we have NaCl dissolved in a rushing flow of liquid blood like the ocean or river?
But the ocean could not contain the same salt in other planet
Magnetic fields do not exist. The term 'magnetic field' refers to the polarity of the star systems, or as I like to call them, the automobile manufacturers.
1:30 a LOT of salt lol
Water is Lava.
SciShow: ...producing beautiful auroras near its poles. Poles: proszę zaprzestać te niedorzeczne żarty
Can it be called an "under ground sea" if it is covered with ice?
I wonder which fish or ocean life in general utilize this field to their benefit? It's like birds, who evolved within the field we know of... so grew to utilize it over time. Now we know of this field, we should look at how nature herself has found a way for her bebe's to use it...
Find a way to make electricity from that field, that's the future.
Those magnetic currents could also be a factor in helping see life migrate through the oceans have a marine biologist and a scientist who studies those current work together to see if that is a possibility I’m curious on that one
I like how michael's hair is turning into a majestic mane.
Remind me when scientists figure out for the first time the same exact thing happens in the atmosphere too.
I really enjoyed the content. Thanks SciShow & and thanks Michael!
So the ocean is like a giant electromagnet?
No jam can compete with SciShow theme
We really are still only really touching the surface when it comes to electricity and magnetism aren't we? I can't wait to find out what comes next in the EM saga! XD
So jf ocean big enough and the currents move just right it makr own magnectic field to protect from deadly sun ray and beginnings of habital planet?
Probably that's how birds and ocean animals know where to go
Don't mean to be "that guy" but you're getting big bro, i know lockdowns hard but take care of yourself buddy. Hoping you're just hench and not trying to create your own magnetic field.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but the magnetic field protects us from solar radiation in space, right? Then if so cant we possibly find a way to replicate this to protect us during space travel?
He's putting on a bit of weight.
Yah a huge vanderwalls ionic covalence. Because if you take the pH of a glass of DI water, it changes with the glass reflecting light. So resistance equals distance by volume, if you had a giant pH meter, the ocean waves would modify the total volume pH. Since there's iodine at some depth below of argon, the magnetic water reflecting the current water, making a teleportation of the moon.
The colder the salad you're served the better it tastes: just shy of freezing, carbohydrate rich offerings can be more delicious served at near-freezing-temepratures; store a salad for fifteen minutes in a freezer, dress and taste. c?
wait tho, the sum charge of the dissociated ions is zero isnt it? the molecules they came from are neutral, like neutral NaCl dissociates into Na+ and Cl-, one positive and one negative charge. so where is the current coming from?
Breaking down H2O molecules in an industrial scale is an irreversible terraforming mistake; making earth into a repeat of mars venus and mercury.!!!!!!!! Do not allow: riot, betray, insurrect and violate anything containing this endeavor!
Forgive me, but what does 20000 times less powerful mean? How can it be any number times less? Is that 1/20000th the strength?
This is the first time I see the "disputed spelling variant" miniscule. I love how descriptive dictionaries corroborate spelling errors.
Not totally related to the video but Mike Aranda should be on Tangents. Make it happen pls 😬
It's clearly not there to protect the planet under the same criteria as the molten core. It's there for another reason and purpose, but what is it that reason? It's not there for nothing. It has another benefit and I'm wondering what it is. It likely also has something to do with the orientation of sonar under the surface. And a myriad of other relational functions and relationships.
Bitcoin (BTC) has been consolidating since its recent all-time high at $US42,00 and has risen back above $US34,000 at the time of writing. The current correction is currently at 30% already, as Bitcoin’s price has bounced from the $US30,000 region several times. Several periods of accumulation were seen in 2020, where Bitcoin’s price ranged for a period of a few months. Such a period is, in fact needed to build strength for continuation. The primary question is whether such a range-bound construction will now yield the same result. As hard as it trading crypto is way more lucrative and is quite logical if you just study the charts and the support resistance and pay attention to what’s going on, I’m not a pro trader but I was lucky enough to make 5BTC since late last year following the instructions and s!gnals of Mr Henry Lucas who runs guidance for beginners and investors who lack understanding on how trading Bitcoin works to help them utilize the volatility of the cryt0p market and also easily get to him on Whatskp + 1 (405) 489-6879 for crypto related issues.
I'm from India 🇨🇮. Your trading experience can be great but you can't do it alone without a professional trader to handle your account risk minimization. Mrlucas has been the only genuine trader you can count and rely on. The level of transparency is highly encouraging. I'm much happy to have my first ever earn through him.
Good one this is great.... Henry lucas please keep up with the good work okay. You're regarded as the best trader amongst my colleges.
Trading with signal that aren't accurate can cost you, a trusted professional like Mr lucas henry handel your trade if you're not sure of your skills.
Trade with Mr Henry he has good trading records and he's trading strategies are profitable.
I'm quite surprised to see people talking about Mr lucas online. I've been a client of his for over a year and few months and I can attest for his professionalism and straightforwardness... Made over $16,000 in 2 months with his assistance on trades.
How dare you not even mentioning the Ørsted Satellite? en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/%C3%98rsted_(satellite)
Definitely would like to see more on this topic. Sounds like it could affect many things, as well as explain things like the unique senses/sense organs ocean animals have. 💚🌎🌄✌️
Why is it that magnets harm electronics but our earth's magnetic field doesn't affect them?
Makes me wonder why we can’t just take a anode and a cathode into the ocean and then use the current in the ocean to power us.
*minuscule
How much conjecture has gone into to how much something like this might’ve impacted Mars’ magnetic field? Given that our oceans absorb much of our increased heat, how effectively could we extrapolate the loss of heat with the loss of oceans/water? And then combine those heat losses to cement the end of the former Martian magnetic field?
by the way ? their satellite cant measure incoherent magnetism !oh 20000 time weaker ? i ll be dam maybe they can have a way to measure incoherent magnetism in the futur ! i would be carefull ! why ? normal coherent magnetism everybody knows null point if more external . but the null point of incoherent magnetism is inward ! up to a certain size. past that shrink ? the incoherent magnetism is outside the incoherent magnet . like at atomic size ! yep you end up with a jumble of coherent magnetism and incoherent magnetism outside the atom ! but the effect is still very strong in the null point of the incoherent magnet outside the atom and the coherent magnetic null point witch rejoint incoherent magnetic null point ! if it does not ? you end up with a null point witch is ..... weird ! it basicly cancel magnetism ! a vacuum of magnetism ! ( lack of magnetism ) it is weird ! i would be carefull because 100% nothing love to be reified with 100% something since human have not played much with the vaccum of magnetism ( total lack of magnetism ) we do not exiactly know how electricity or magnetism behave on heart ! naza likely know since they re in space but maybe not since they re on a space staTION
Wouldn't the magnetic fields of water only be separate from a inter magnetic field if it's as the layer above and on the surface ?
the album is terrible
A Google search for _does Earth have another magnetic field?_ shows nothing. 💕 ☮ 🌎 🌌
It's very typical of Google to suppress the truth(s).
I'm a big fan of your dad, Glenn Danzig.
90% of all heat generated by humans is absorbed by the oceans...hmmmm...seems like a stretch to me....
another magnetic field *source*. field is the same. magnetic.
The will of the spirit that is the oceans
Sir Assalam-o-Alikum!(peace be upon you!) I hope you will understand my massage INSHALLAH! : please watch this video (alfirst.info/load/raWPoajJhteKg4U/video) Sir You know science and logic Very well sir must watch. sir ALLAH bless you.
0:25 That outcropping looks like one of the things you fight in en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shadow_of_the_Colossus
Dear Michael, I am seriously diggin' the long hair 😍
Earth's magnetic field: "you seem distant lately, is there something you want to tell me?: Earth: "there's someone else" Earth's magnetic field: "I knew it! You're seeing another magnetic field!" Rains tears for a million years.
👍
One time I walked in on Ganymede while it was perturbating...
He should have locked the door, better knock from now on! Ganymede is growing up.
I love this channel
Geo science discovers continue to amaze and delight.
Plot twist: the second gravitational field is actually your mother.
no u
If the body heat of 7 billion people is being absorbed how come the ocean is freezing cold 😂yeah Ight
when i was a child i thought that magnetic field = gravity
If our earth core magnetic field and our oceans also create magnetic fields it stands to reason that they interact with each other, the stronger field dominating the weaker. Therefore ocean currents over time which help cause our weather patterns will be impacted greatly if and when our core magnetic field reverses which seems to be happening,g now....our weather will be come more erratic and unusual so will life as seen by the radical behavior of humans lately.
Magnetic field 2: Electromagnetic Boogaloo
Earth..!😍
I heard there was a 2nd magnetic field around your mama
Interesting
so we land asteroids with water on mars to kickstart its habitability
Tick, tock goes the DOOM 🕙 #climatecrisis #naturedoesnotgiveadamnaboutusandourquarrels #YOUarewitnessingtheENDofEVERYTHINGbecauseofanobsessionwithFLATTENEDTREESakamoney #hurryupwiththevaccineandDOsomethingaboutitNOW
The earth's magnetic field is failing... Yoda: Fear not should you, Another one there is...
How does the sun's magnetic field interact with the earths magnetic field? And what forces are applied when the earth magnetic field flips?
Oh... Big whoop.
2018? Holy what? How sensitive is my sh••! I'm not even within 600 miles of the nearest ocean water and did this 20 years ago!
This comment is sponsored by a curious mind.
gamers create a lot of charge being salty and free flowing..
Wouldn't this secondary field counteract the primary field?
It's so good to see information about geomagnetism being spread! And so fun to see the work of my former professors being cited 😄
However, a flow/current of molten metal or ocean does not coincide with an electrical current, cause in sum both are electrically neutral. So this apparently can't be the actual scientific explanation and the given explanation here is an over-simplification. So what is the actual scientific explanation for the earths' magnetic field(s)?
How come I found this 🤓 video between GameStop and Wall Street?
Babe wake up, new magnetic field just dropped
entropy is due to the number of 'ordered' configurations of a system being outnumbered by the # of chaotic configurations of said system. this would apply to society too, no? democratic order vs a dictarships/war lord-doms/Mad Max scenarios, etc...
Bro how are doing animation in your videos...any software u are using...plz tell
Holy crap! The ESA did something that didn't end in a giant flaming explosion crashing back to Earth! Good Job Guys! I proud of you!
K
The Mounder minimum of the late 16th century is todays eddy minimum, not global warming. Earth’s magnetic shield is wavering and enabling the polar vortex to dip into North America BREAKING even MORE cold temperature RECORDS.
Very interesting and worthwhile video.
So the earth makes this huge magnetic field which extends far out into space, why doesn’t it have much strength? Is it cause we’re so far away from its source?
@hpekristiansen excellent explanation, I really appreciate it
@Levi Howell You can even have a magnet several thousand times stronger than earth in your pocket and the compass will still point north. This is because the field quickly becomes weak with distance (field falls off inversely with the cube of the distance at large distances). The earth is huge in comparison, so we are not far away from it. We are right at the surface of this weak ball magnet.
@hpekristiansen how come a compass doesn’t point towards the local junk yard with the really strong magnet to pick up metal? That magnet is more powerful than the earths but it’s pull doesn’t influence anything other than what’s in its immediate area. Is it bc the earth is a really big but weak magnet and the one at the junkyard is small but really strong?
ALL magnetic fields extends infinitely. Earths magnetic field is tiny (25 to 65 μT) ... really really tiny. -just enough to turn a compass needle.
Isn’t everything we know magnetism and dielectric in see of energy we are part of?
New magnetic field just dropped.
You could say, the Earth has a 'magnetic personality'!!! Humour!!! I love it!!! :P
Musicforscientists is an in depth album I really like it. listened to it a few times and it is chill and calming while still having a steady beat. 8/10 would recommend.
Wow this is so interesting and intriguing! Nature is really bizarre and beautiful! 😍👍🏻🇮🇳
I think that Ganymede and Io have the liquid metal magnetic field
Dudes gettin thick
It's not the only type of magnetism. There's also... Animal magnetism. ;-]
Like most of my favourite channels, it wouldn't seem like this one has ever been censored.
"More research is needed"...
If a magnetic field by salt water is 20,000 times weaker than one made by rock, how could you ever expect to distinguish it from the regular magnetic fields? Sounds like a really crappy way to tell about water
1:30 you mean 'minuscule'?
Lmao I really wanted to like the music for scientists but it just cringed me off a cliff. To be fair im just a humble blue collar guy. But lmao that music is pretty pretty weird
Hey look... Something I wrote about years ago in some random comments... And now there is proof
I wonder if we will someday be able to investigate this weaker magnetic field in relation to weather systems. Might it affect the formation of thunderstorms? Or be a contributing factor to even larger weather events like hurricanes?
