Foxes Might Use Magnetic Fields to Hunt
909 Shikime 92 mijë
Seems like you guys are recycling 7year old info. alfirst.info/load/eGeKn36tfLJian0/video
That is so cool!
isn't it possible that it happens that they hunt around noon with the advantage of light coming from above helping finding the prey between the leaves?
Fkn Foxes- How do they work! No wait, that's not how the song goes....
Is there any data for foxes in other parts of the world have a preferred pouncing alignment? The magnetic field would be in a different orientation depending on where they are relative to magnetic north.
Humans are able to sense direction as well. We just usually aren't tuned to it unless we are raised with an indicator like a mountain range. There was a guy that for a period of time would use a compass to the point where after he stopped using the compass he always knew where north generally was.
YES BUT WHAT DOES THE FOX SAY!!!!!
Yeah, it demonstrates the limitations of the brain's motor control.
This is why I love fox
Given the chance, I’d pounce on you Michael, 😆!
Right so foxes use quantum mechanics and electromagnetism to get food... Overachievers 😒🙄
Shave your pubes under your chin.
TY ☺️
Michael Aranda. Fox. Yup.
So that's why Star Fox has that visual display!
Who’s this clown? Bring the other host back
If this is true, then I would suspect it’s true with coyotes also.
I love this thumbnail! "Confused Algebra Woman" is my favorite meme (which this thumnail is based on.) I also love foxes!
So it has a biological gps
My namesake animal is the best animal. 🦊
Very informative video, but have scientists figured out what the fox says yet?
Foxes aren't cute or fuzzy. Please stop saying they are. I have experience with them and they are filthy and horrible.
ive watched owls dive into think snow and surface with small mammal .
Some joke about foxy ... magnets?
My friend and I made a video asking people about foxes and other wild canines on this channel. Check it out if you are interested.
Even my dogs use a pounce technique for moles and rabbits. Wonder why you didn't make parallels or a comparison to this behaviour in dogs. The short, swift, stalky - or most fox-like - dogs are quite good at it. I think this is just precise hearing and smelling followed with this pounce behaviour.
Fox quantum-magneto heads-up display! Is this cool or what?!?!?!?!
For the algorithm.
my dog use this hunting techniques too so did he have a fox compas too??? :)
Foxes are magnetic themselves.
I need to hug one :(
We need to study how humans can navigate. I can feel north and south almost like a passive sense. Even without visual reference.
Tell this to rich british people
Unless I missed something; this doesn't make sense. The description seems to rely on the Earth's magnetic field being a constant variable -which it is not; the 'field lines' move and the strength changes.
Actually, we use our red chakra to sense prey. It works kinda like the Byakugan.
Fox Jedi
Fox kid from the sixth sense.
Fox Whoopie goldberg from Ghost.
wrg
Dogs can do exactly the same thing (at least more primitive breeds). Dogs use magnetic fields too, then?
...
Foxes: "I can sense the earth's magnetic field to catch my prey" Falcon: "Personally, I prefer the air"
Fox wakes up: _Legs, online_ _Sensors, online_ _Pouncing systems, online_ _All systems nominal_
*Fox cleans paws to check mouth works* Weapons hot, ready op!
Cat software, dog hardware, dolphin soundboard, *magnetic targetting system.*
Also nonlinear access to spacetime and an adorable tail
Speculate much?
Wow
So are foxes just funny orange catdog compasses?
Also the sun would be at its back, so the fox doesn't get sun in its eyes, so when the fox pounces it will create a shadow over the prey, this could scare the prey (shock), or temporarily 'blind' the prey as its eyes wouldn't have enough time to adjust to darkness, just my thoughts. Also if foxes were south of the equator would they still do this or would it be in the opposite direction?
Magneto😆😆
is michael...glowing?? his complexion is ✨✨✨
The thumbnail is a new meme template
This Host looks like Tarzan. And Fox is not the only animal pounce-hunting.
heh so do I
I heard a long time ago that humans, especially males, have a magnetic north in their ears which is why we dont like asking for directions, not a joke lol
I feel like it's only a matter of time before we start leveraging cryptochromes in artificial eyes. Seems like it would be super useful for surveying, especially in geologically active regions.
So basically you're saying that well maybe, it could be, but we're not sure, but a lot of corollary evidence says that it's definitely a possibility that it might be how they do it unless its totally not.
From the sound of it, science has a long way to go on this mystery.
Right, there might be something going on here, but animal study is complex, and migration is very different from hunting!
Neat video! Although, you mention their ears & magnetism sensitivity.... But don't foxes also have good senses of smell that they use, or am I mistaken?
Im not a big fan of foxes tbh. Specially the fire ones.
Yes i also saw Winterwatch last week, good job in getting this scripted edited and filmed so quick, with the extra detail!

That Fox is smarter than I am.
Why so much effort to avoid discussing how the earth's magnetic field is relevant to locating a titmouse?
Finally, an explanation for why all those foxes keep getting stuck to my fridge.
This means that foxes have Quantum powers like birds

i think you might be overthinking it. i think it's more likely to do with the electricity or however you word it. the electrical impulses affect their heart rhythms. some in bigger ways, some in smaller. the magnetic pulses alter the energy flow, which in turn affects the impulses in their bodies. i would hazard a guess that these different animals are quite Literally following their hearts. what do i base this on? my own heart. when i wander into one of those "mystery spots", i become deathly ill. i get sick to my stomache, my head feels like it's going to explode and i lose most of the function in my legs for as long as i'm in that area's field of energy. no joke i Hate magnetic fields with a passion. MRIs are a ... well, let's just say, for a person who's had to get them periodically, it's not fun. [/understatement of the decade] sooo, yeah... nothing fancy. just well attuned to their little blood pumpers.

Hasn't cryptochrome navigation been just recently proven?

It still didn’t make sense how they’re using magnetic fields to calculate distance.
Well if north-south magnetic field lines create visual artifacts within the eye their intensity would still taper off as a gradient across the land. Kinda like the way the gradient of specific colors varies across the sky during a sun set and is particularly intense towards the sun. But instead this effect would be strongest towards the stronger of our magnetic poles, aka, magnetic north. This could create a gradiated part of your visual field that is fixed relative to the ground that can be used as a reference point. That said, this is all still speculation and the field itself is only visible when light enters their eyes to reveal the way these visual artifacts alter their ability to see their surroundings.
The subtle use of doge in the thumbnail is much tasteful Common ancestor so relatively close Much genus
So in fact we dont yet know how animals magnetorecept. interesting
Oh there is a an app for omega hats? thats cool i luv my omega hats

I remember knowing this!!!! But I love seeing it get air time. Super cool!!!
That new thumbnail tho.
Foxes on Reddit: Best prank on scientists? Just head North when U R sure that U can catch the prey...
When I was in 1st grade we watched a video that said as much some 30 years ago...
Sad

Quantum targetting...impressive.
Oh no the humans are on to us but our grand plan remains hidden
Need to change your name to wild speculation show. Just as much evidence for telepathy.
Doesn’t domestic foxes do that on beds and stuff? I am slightly scared of what’s under/inside my mattress now
new adaptation dropped
fox earthbenders
This is why the Brain invented a helmet that emits randomly fluctuating magnetic fields
Foxes wouldn't need to necessarily "see" the magnetic field even though the sensors are in the eyes. It would be interesting if we could trace the nerves back from the cryptochromes to the brain to see where they are signaling
correlation does not equal causation. this is not science
Jean Michel Jarre has entered the chat
I don't get how that sense would help them with this type of hunting...how does a compass help judge small distances?
I call rubbish. Foxes hunt on railways with overhead wires so I highly doubt they use magnetics. They have unbelievably brilliant hearing and sense of smell.
i still don’t get how lining up with magnetic north increases the accuracy of the pounce. had the same problem when nat geo explained it with a flashlight example years ago.
Does that mean fennec foxes use radar ?
do they hunt robots?
Imagine using a compass to find something that is only 6 inches away and only 3 inches long.
@Bacopa68: alfirst.info/load/h35uqo2rbr6EdnU/video (Sorry for the bad quality, the only other vid of the sketch omits a full minute of material.)
Have you ever tried to catch a mouse? It's not easy. Lining up an extra sense and attacking with that magnetic sense could help. I speak from experience. Catching little critters is hard, I've done it professionally. Every little critter has a hundred tricks. Mastering the perfect catch is hard.
So, foxes basically uses a quantum sat-nav to hunt. Wow!
The Fox is just using wall hacks.
They say some humans might be capable of magnetic sensing, In some capacity
Has this something to do with dogs orientating themselfes to north when pooping in an unknown area?
That's insanely cool
All crap...they just have sensitive paws thats all
So its a flagship phone.
quantum biology? anyone....?
Give it a few years, tell them to start with the FMO complex in plants
To be honest, this sounds like something someone made up to show a flaw in the scientific publishing process. Like the "eat chocolate to make you slim" thing...
Does this sound like bs or what?
Couldn't you genetically engineer a fox (or migratory birds) to not have cryptochromes? Then observe whether it can still do this. If not, then it's the cryptochromes even if we don't know how...
Sounds like researchers creating work for themselves where there isn't any work.
